We all know how important it is to have a beautifully branded website: however, motivating people to actually reach out to you is another thing entirely. I've been doing some research and have encountered some top "dos + don'ts" when it comes to website design and usability.
Here are four and a half tips to make sure your website visitors connect with your brand and connect with you! To some, these changes might seem daunting, but I promise they're relatively simple changes that can make a big difference in your site's performance and your business' success.
1. Use social media icons, and place them prominently.
This is a must! clients want to see that you're active, therefore social media icons are good as they show that you're active, this makes people think that your website must be active and up to date. The icons should be easy to find, either at the top of your website or in the footer.
2. Show off your testimonials.
I love a sprinkling of testimonials throughout your website. Never just place them on one page, because no one will go to a page to read testimonials. However, they will read them if they're on a page they are already reading. It also helps build credibility and trust.
3. Feature quality images.
Make sure you have high-quality images on your website. Nothing ruins a good image more than pixelation. There are some amazing responsive and retina plugins for WordPress websites to make the process even easier.
3.5. Include a photo.
New visitors want to know who and this can be helped along with an image of the CEO/Director or a team photo. This goes beyond just seeing your reviews and 'About Us', to giving them a friendly face. Make sure it's an authentic photo, not a stock photo. Don't be shy!
4. Link to your emails.
It's a known problem that contact forms are often caught by spam filters, and some hosting sites block these kinds of messages altogether. To help mitigate this problem, make sure you provide a general email address on your website so clients can contact you directly if they don't hear from you after submitting your form.
So there you have it - 4.5 ways to make your website more functional and you more accessible for better results.
