Simple Self-Care (30 minutes or less)

This post is for you if you find it difficult to rest and unwind. You're working your tail off, have a mountain of work while yet attempting to maintain a social life while wanting nothing more than to watch Netflix with a good hot chocolate. Even if your schedule is jam-packed with enjoyable activities, keeping up with everything can be stressful.

There’s no doubt that the best way to actually enjoy this year is to stop and take time to care for yourself.

It's difficult to shop, cook, or decorate when you're tired, let alone enjoy it. Instead of getting caught up in the stress, take some time to focus on your health. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant. Rather than becoming overwhelmed by adding additional things to do, I've compiled a list of 30 minutes or less self-care suggestions.

1. Prioritize Movement

Nothing beats a good stretch for getting you out of your thoughts and releasing stress. Place your yoga mat on the floor and turn on a short yoga DVD. I enjoy stretching first thing in the morning and as soon as I wake up.

2. Take a Nice Relaxing Bath

Light some candles, add some bath salts, put your phone on quiet in another room, and relax as you soak. Remove yourself from the digital world and listen to soothing music to let your troubles fade away.

3. Invite a Friend Over for Tea

Sometimes a connection is exactly what you're looking for. With all of the hustle and bustle of the season, it's easy to overlook the simple pleasures of connecting with those we care about!

4. Take a Nap

Personally, I prefer it. Let's face it, you've earned it between work, social gatherings, and holiday preparations.

5. Try Out a New Recipe

Make a batch of cookies or a delicious baked product to let off steam. Alternatively, you may prepare your favourite dinner.

6. Watch An Episode of a Funny Show

If your to-do list is making you feel worried and overwhelmed, take a break, sit down, and watch a funny show (like Rick & Morty, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or Parks & Rec – they never fail to make me chuckle!). Laughter has been proved to improve your mood and reduce the amounts of stress chemicals in your body, according to research. Laughter can even strengthen your immune system, preventing you from being ill during this hectic season.

7. Get Some Fresh Air

Even if it's a little chilly outside, it's worth it to wrap up in a few extra layers and go for a little walk. Simply being outside in nature might make you feel more relaxed and refreshed!

8. Give Yourself a Mini Facial

Start by washing your face, apply your preferred serums and lotions in a gentle, circular motion. Slowly massage your face and neck while taking a few deep breaths.

9. Practice Gratitude

Make a list of 5 things you're grateful for, and be specific. With the busyness of the season, it's easy to lose sight of yourself, and being appreciative is a simple and effective approach to refocus your priorities!

10. Pick up Fresh Flowers

We frequently purchase fresh flowers as a gift for others or to make our home more welcoming when visitors arrive. Instead, pick up a bouquet of fresh flowers the next time you go to the grocery store to liven up your house or office just for you!

11. Clean Your Bedroom

Yes, you already have a million things on your plate, and no, you don't want to add another duty to the mix. But hear me out: tidying your room can actually make you feel calmer over time. Clutter is stressful in and of itself, and returning to a cluttered room every night won't help you sleep well.
