I love my hair when it has volume, that for me is a good hair day. I’ve tried just about every trick under the sun, from shampoos to sprays to special brushes, and only a few have resulted in hair that stays uplifted all day. Keep scrolling for my quickest routes to big bouncy hair
1. Dry Shampoo.
For me, dry shampoo is something I use for styling my hair and adding more volume not to be able to get an extra day between washes. Dry shampoo is life-changing if you are someone that struggles to get volume in your hair. Before leaving the house in the morning spray your roots with some dry shampoo, let it sit for 30 seconds or so then brush through your hair. My favorite dry shampoo at the moment is Schwarzkopf Got2b. For a cheaper alternative, you can Buy for baby powder and use it in the same way, make sure as not too put too much on your hair and this won't blend in and will give you grey roots.
2. Teasing.
Teasing is quite common for creating volume in updos like buns, however, this can be used to create volume while wearing your hair down. Make sure that you only tease your hair when it is dry if you do so while you have wet you will stretch your hair and cause damage. Also make sure that you only tease the bottom layers on your hair, creating a pin cushion for your top layer to sit on. This will give your hair volume without causing a knotted mess look. You can get tease combs and brushes to do this with, but I just use my general comb. Some prefer to tease their entire head but others only tease their crown section. It really just depends on how fine your hair is, how big you want your hair to be, and where you want more fullness. Another side note, please be gentle with your hair when teasing and especially when combing out the teased sections. Try not to over tease! Not cute!”
Also, make sure you take care when brushes your hair out as not to rip hair from your scalp or break the hair.
3. Upside Down Blow Dry.
This is the one I do every time I dry my hair, I think it is an absolute MUST for getting volume. I find that the more time I spend finessing my blowout with a round brush or other tools, the smoother (and therefore flatter) my hair gets. My best bet is actually the simplest: flip hair upside down and use one hand to throw it around and mess it up, while the other hand directs hair from the hairdryer. Also, it works better for me to not use any special nozzles since they tend to direct the heat to create more smoothness… and we’re looking for voluminous, messy bedhead here, people. Big hair, don’t care!
